Freshmen Carl Dearth and Brady Miller qualified to compete in the state science fair after placing first and second respectively in their categories at the regional science fair held on Feb. 5 at Grand Pointe Conference Center. The results are:
- Dearth: first in Microbiology with “Pandemic Problems-Which Mask Works Best?”
- Miller: second in Physics and Astronomy with “Temperature: The Game Changer”
They were among eight high school projects that qualified for the state fair in total. The West Virginia Science and Engineering Fair will be held on March 9 in Charleston.
“There is a good deal more competition at the state level,” science teacher and school science fair adviser Summer Bunner said. “But, the two students that are going to state have excellent projects and I believe will do well.”
