The school’s first Tiny Art Show winners were announced on Nov. 21.
Art teacher Miranda Wilson started the Tiny Art Show from an idea on a Facebook art teacher group. She wanted a show that she could do in the fall instead of the end of the year like most of the shows were. The art had to be smaller than, or the size of, a sticky note to be entered in the show, and could only be entered by students with an art class. There were two categories: one for 2D art, which was judged by multicat teacher Dave King, and one for 3D art, which was judged by science teacher Daniel Jonas. The maximum number of entries was no more than three per person, and the two categories combined had 59 entries.
2D Category Winners:
First place – “The Explosion”, by Alex Barclay
Second place – “Mono”, by Zoey Keifer
Third place – “Larry”, by Kurteace Allen
Honorable Mention – “Mr. Banana”, by Collier Sargent
3D Category Winners:
First place – “Lemonaid Stand”, by Andrea Fluharty
Second place – “Duckey”, Hannah Cox
Third place – “Kablooey”, by Easton Mullen
Best In Show – “The Pink Lily”, by Isabella Bland
Entries were displayed in the first floor main hallway, outside the main office.
“I’m really happy how it turned out. I’m happy that a bunch of people participated because it wasn’t mandatory, it was optional,” Wilson said. “A lot of good work came out of it. Tiny work.”
