Seniors Parker Schartiger and Ellie Yeater named prom king and queen on Saturday, May 1.

Prom looked different for everyone this year, but for seniors Parker Schartiger and Ellie Yeater, the night proved extra exciting. With masks being the most important accessories and students attempting to remain socially distant while having fun, one thing that remained the same was the traditional prom king and queen announcement. Probably the most anticipated moment of the night, the moment when the winners were announced, was a highlight of the evening.

Seniors cast their votes for the court prior to prom night and selected four seniors as the king, queen, prince, and princess, out of a pre-nominated panel of seniors. Schartiger and Yeater were named king and queen, and seniors Mason Cantwell and Emily Stockdale were voted prince and princess for 2021.

“I was shocked. I started at PHS my sophomore year and I am not involved in sports so I really didn’t expect anything. So, when we won it was really exciting,” said Yeater.

The crowd cheered as the prom royalty were crowned and as Schartiger and Yeater took part in the traditional dance shared by the prom king and queen.
