During the senior informational meeting March 30, there was a lot of information given out at once. For seniors who forgot or missed something from the meeting, or were unable to attend, here is everything that was announced.
- Senior English classes were given postcards to send to someone who has positively impacted their lives as they have grown up. If a senior does not have an English class at PHS, they may see senior class and T-Club adviser Sam Vincent to get a postcard. Whoever the postcard is written to will have a seat saved for them at graduation.
- There are three spots open for graduation speeches. Any senior can try out to give a speech, and the three speakers will be chosen by members of the PHS Foundation. Speeches must be typed, printed out and turned in to Vincent by May 1. Included with the speech must be a letter or signature from a PHS English teacher to show that they reviewed it. Speeches must be three to five minutes long and include the senior quote, “People change and things go wrong, but just remember life goes on” by Mac Miller. Tryouts for speeches will be held May 8.
- All seniors have to pay $30 in senior fees before May 15 for commencement security, Color Day costs and the cost of diplomas. Some seniors may owe additional fees for lost items like library books, iPads or chargers. To check if you have any lost item fees, see Loretta Wright in the Finance Office, 134C. Fees can be paid by cash or check in the Finance Office or online at hometownticketing.com.
- The annual senior trip to Cedar Point will be May 21. Tickets are sold out. Participating seniors will need to be at the school before 6 a.m. to catch the bus. Students will arrive at Cedar Point around 10 a.m. and will be at the park until 5:30 p.m. If seniors have past disciplinary issues, they might not be eligible to attend. Students must ride the bus to get their tickets.
- Color Day and the Chill and Grill will be May 22. Line up for the parade will be in the horseshoe at 8:30 a.m. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and food, drinks, activities and field day events will follow.
- Color Day shirts are on sale now and must be purchased by Wednesday, April 22. The cost is $15. The shirt design will be the senior flag on the front and senior names on the back. Theme ideas for Color Day will be accepted until April 24, and may be given to Vincent via Schoology or written out.
- There will be three graduation practices, May 26, 27 and 28, that will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Fieldhouse. All practices are mandatory in order to walk at graduation. Caps and gowns will be required for the May 27 practice, which is followed by Tap Day. Do not iron, wash or use a steamer on your gown.
- Senior walk-throughs, where seniors have the opportunity to visit their middle and elementary schools in their caps and gowns, are tentatively scheduled for after graduation practices at 1:00 p.m., with elementary school visits being May 26 and middle schools on May 27. Information for students who attended VanDevender Middle School will be announced.
- Tap Day will be held immediately after graduation practice May 27. This is the ceremony where awards and scholarships are announced and handed out. Caps and gowns will be worn for this ceremony.
- Graduation is May 28 at 7 p.m. and the morning of, the call will be made for if it is inside or outside, based on weather conditions. If graduation is held in the Fieldhouse, each student will be given six tickets for the ceremony. If graduation is outside, there is no limit on tickets.
- The senior all-night party will be held at the In-Step Athletic Center from 10:00 p.m.-2 a.m. May 28. Tickets will be sold on Color Day, after graduation practices and at the door. There will be food, movies, karaoke, giveaways and other fun activities.
Even during this year of lasts, there are still a bunch of first-time events for the class of 2026 to experience, so make sure you keep your calendars updated and don’t miss anything.
