The Kindness Club recently sold t-shirts as a fundraiser in honor of senior Caeleb VanCamp, who tragically passed away in an accident Sept. 10, 2022.

“His friends came in and asked if they could do something (for VanCamp),” said Michelle Swisher, Kindness Club sponsor.

Senior Kye Gaston, a friend of VanCamp, created the shirt design, which features a fish on a hook, representing VanCamp’s love of fishing. With the help of the Kindness Club, 92 shirts were sold and many separate donations were made. Proceeds will be used to purchase a bench on campus in VanCamp’s honor. The bench will have a plaque on it featuring the design on the shirts.

“It’s a great way to remember Caeleb. He was a brother to me and many others,” said Gaston. “The shirt represents the life and impact Caeleb had on so many. We wanted his legacy to live on in our lives and in future Big Reds. We love and miss Caeleb always.”

The club may have to hold another fundraiser to be able to pay for the installation of the bench. Donations are still open to anyone who wants to contribute. Students should bring their donations to Swisher in room 225C.
