Thespians Spring To The Stage
After a winning performance at the WVU Thespian Festival, Thespian Troupe #264 is bringing back the annual spring show with the play, “Midsummer Jersey”. The play will be held in the auditorium on April 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. and April 10 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door, $8 for adults and $5 for kids.
“It’s a funny play,” said junior Billy Richards who plays Denis. “I’ve really enjoyed being on the set.”
“Midsummer Jersey” is a comedic retelling of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Nights’s Dream” set on the Jersey shore. The show will have around 28 characters.
The play’s love triangle is between characters Mia, played by junior Bastet Zyla, Helene, played by junior Abby Hines, Denis, played by Richards, and Lyle, played by sophomore Nathan Thornton.
“Although adopting a Jersey accent has been difficult, it’s been so fun to play a character that is so far out of my comfort zone,” said Hines. “The entire cast had been able to grow through this experience and we’ve all become so close through the countless hours of rehearsal.”
A school performance will be held Thursday, April 14 for students who are interested in seeing the play. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased from Room 211C beginning Monday.
