Diversity Student Union Aims to Raise Funds For Ukrainian Refugees

The Diversity Student Union is hosting a fundraiser for the refugees fleeing Ukraine as a result of the Russian and Ukrainian War. All proceeds will be donated to The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), a global organization dedicated to saving lives and protecting the rights of refugees.

“I want to aid the refugees in the unfortunate situation and demonstrate to our youth we can make a positive impact in a society by coming together as community. Our actions matter more than we may believe,” said senior Sheza Ikhlaq, founder of the DSU.

The fundraiser will run through April 1. Donation tables will be set up during lunches in the cafeteria. People outside of the school can donate via cash or checks made out to Parkersburg High School, with “Diversity Student Union, attention Jordan Moore” in the memo.
