A Cappella Choir to Perform Christmas Concert Dec. 20
After not being able to perform last year due to COVID, the annual A Cappella Choir Christmas Concert will take place on Monday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
“I’m nervous but super excited for people to see how hard everyone has worked,” said junior Rileigh Dennison, a second-year choir member.
The theme of this year’s concert is “A Voice, A Chime”, which is based off of a song the choir will perform with the same name.
The choir will be accompanied by Amy Sinclair, a local music director. This is the first year Sinclair will be playing with the choir.
On Dec. 17 the choir performed for fifth graders from surrounding schools. They will perform for the school on Dec. 21.
Choir members will be wearing singer’s masks due to the mask mandate in Wood County Schools.
“I am looking forward to finally presenting a Christmas concert with our dedicated supporters, families, and friends of the A Cappella Choir,” said choir director Josh Dubs. “We are also excited to provide a listening opportunity to both the north side fifth grade classes, as well as the 9-12 grades here at Parkersburg High. This time of year is always very special to the choir, as our name is often synonymous with Christmas for much of the community here in Parkersburg.” This will be Dubs’ third year directing the concert.
The ongoing tradition of the combined performance of the “Hallelujah Chorus” with alumni singers and three former directors will also take place at Monday’s concert.
The choir did have a spring concert last year, but that was the only concert performance they had.
