This Friday, April 25, PHS Players will perform the musical “Mean Girls” for the school during sixth through ninth periods. The show will open to the public April 24 at 7 p.m., followed by shows at the same time on April 25 and 26. There will also be a 2:30 p.m. performance on Sunday, April 27. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and will be sold at the door.
“I’m a little worried about everything coming together but I have faith in our wonderful tech and actors,” said junior Keira McPeak, who plays Karen Smith.
The Players have been preparing for this show since October. Not only is there preparation on songs, lines and dances, there is also preparation on decorating the stage and getting all of the technical aspects, such as lighting and music, ready for opening night.
“I hope to see the audience have as much fun with the show as we do performing it,” said freshman Zach Gaston, who plays Damian Leigh.
Audience members should be able to have fun while still practicing proper theater etiquette, which includes clapping when appropriate, and cheering for friends, while still being respectful. Those who attend the performance should speak at a low whisper and make sure to silence all cell phones. No one wants to be added to Regina George’s burn book for ruining all the fun.
As seniors prepare for their final show, they’re experiencing a mix of emotions.
“With the show coming up, all I can feel is excitement, nervousness and honestly, a little sad,” said senior Danica Sheppard, who plays Regina George. “I’m so excited for everyone to see our show, but I can’t help but feel a little sad with it being my last show as a senior. I’m so grateful to have such incredible cast mates and I can’t wait to end it off with a bang.”
The show is estimated to be around two hours long. Since the school show will take place sixth through ninth periods, any students attending the show will eat fifth lunch. Tickets are on sale during lunch in the cafeteria or in room 211C for $5.
Students are encouraged to watch the show and support PHS Players. It’ll be fetch.
