After high winds and mass amounts of rain hit the South, many have been left in need of help after Hurricane Helene. PHS groups will be out front in the horseshoe Saturday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. collecting items for those affected. The groups are looking for volunteers to help either by donating or helping organize and load trucks. The items that are needed are as follows:
- Bottled water
- Dog food
- Cat food
- Baby food
- Baby formula
- Non-perishable food items
- Batteries
“I’ve always wanted Red Wing members to be involved in the community and to see value in volunteering,” said Kimberly Griffey, director of the Red Wing Drill Team, which is coordinating the event. “The devastations from Hurricane Helene are horrific, and people and communities need our help. I thought if many of our teams and organizations all came together, we could make a great impact.”
All donations will be picked up by Curry Warehouse after the drive to then be sent to those in need.
