Q: Why are you running?
A: We are running because we want to be more involved with the school and it’s attendants. We want to give our senior class an amazing year which they deserve based upon their ideas and opinions. Within our years at PHS we’ve had many experiences which have made us who we are; responsible, dedicated and motivated. These qualities have driven us to believe we would be perfect candidates to make the upcoming year a memorable one.
Q: What are your plans and ideas for the next year’s senior class?
A: First, we plan to host numerous fundraisers. These fundraisers could be anything from pajama day and hat day to old traditions like the sports carnival. These fundraisers will go towards important events like Color Day and new ideas like a catered lunch for seniors or fieldtrips to the zoo. Second, we plan to take ideas and suggestions from the entire senior class through an online form.

President Candidate: Jacob Province
Vice President Candidate: Daniel Martin
Q: Why are you running?
A: When a friend joked to me about running for class president, they probably thought they were teasing me, but I really saw it as an excuse to grab a form and fill it out. Before I did that, I was looking at the other students quickly getting out of their seats to also grab a form. I was trying to figure out who the best candidate would be. I wanted someone I could trust to interact with and respect me and the rest of the senior class. I wanted someone I could trust to understand what senior students wanted and work off of our ideas. I wanted someone I could trust to make something that wouldn’t seem fun, turn into something we could look forward to. So, I chose myself. That’s why I’m running for president.
Q: What are your plans and ideas for next year’s senior class?
A: A broad answer is whatever could make the senior class more exciting. I can say that I have had my fair share of boring school days, coming home and going to sleep without a single notification on my phone all day. I want to change that for anyone else that has ever gone through that. I want to create a school year for the seniors where there is always something to do. Whether it be a paid-for activity for the seniors, or a fundraiser for more of those activities, we plan on making it fun. Not only that, but we plan on listening to every individual student. No more trouble in trying to have your thoughts heard. If I’m able to make a change that is good for the whole class, I will do my best to achieve that goal.
Q: What are your qualifications for being president/vice president?
Jacob Province, A: I have been a leader for a while now. I carry a strong sense of responsibility which motivates me to create something that everyone can be proud of. I’ve been very involved with the school through extracurricular activities. I’ve also been involved with all sorts of people. I am not afraid to make new friends, or to wave and say hello to anyone I see when going to my next class. I will make sure nobody is left behind. My time working on the yearbook has taught me that I can make sure everyone is included and that I have the ability to make this position unique and interesting for everyone. I am a good listener and a good speaker. I want to listen to the senior class, and I want to speak for them. If I’m president I will create an improved involvement in the senior class. I will create something new and different.
Daniel Martin, A: I am qualified to be vice president because I am also a leader. I have the position of captain on the Cross Country team and participate on the swim and track teams too. I have the ability to find time for all of these teams and help out. The teams all have different groups of people involved, but I can find a way to create new friendships within them all. I am disciplined in making tough decisions, yet fair. I can see issues from the perspective of other people and find creative solutions to solve those problems. I will work hard to create a better senior year.
Q: Is there anything else you would like the voters to know?
A: We want the voters to know that they can trust us. You can trust us as if it were you. That’s because we are you. We will be the representatives of the senior class, not its dictators. If we win, you should know you are in good hands. If we win, your voice will be heard.
Juniors will vote for class president on Wednesday, May 1 during social studies classes.
