Juggling multiple extracurriculars can be tough for some but senior Brandice Kunze stays involved wherever she can. Kunze is a member of National English Honor Society, National Honor Society, Nature Club, Senior Women’s Club, works at the board office, is on the track team and is secretary of the senior class.
Kunze has been running track since third grade. She never turned back as track is something she enjoys. She expressed that not only do her friends do it but also it gives her a chance to be athletic.
“I started running because everybody else did all these sports and I was like ‘ugh sports.’ My best friend, she runs track, and so I wanted to do it with her too. In high school obviously it’s a lot more competitive so I’m not as good, but I like being with all my friends and staying athletic. Then I can eat whatever I want,” said Kunze.
She also participates in multiple clubs as a Big Red. Along with being the secretary of the senior class she has recently been inducted as NEHS secretary. Kunze likes to be involved and being able to pick out themes for football games or planning senior activities makes her feel she is doing good for her class and community.
“I wanted to be secretary and not like the president or anything because it’s less of a chore but you also still get to do a lot. You get to actually say stuff and be a part of what the senior class does,” said Kunze.
She has a love for animals, especially her five cats. She hopes to start volunteering at the Humane Society, walking and playing with the animals.
“During the summer we went to the Humane Society to play with the animals and stuff and I really enjoyed doing that. So, we are going to start volunteering there for our NHS hours and just because all those poor animals are in cages all day,” said Kunze.
Her “partner in crime” is her dad. They bond over food and traveling and she expressed that they go everywhere together. He is also a chef which drives their bond over food.
“My dad is my bestest friend in the world,” said Kunze. “He does everything for me. I don’t see my mom as much, so my dad takes on both roles and he does amazing. I don’t know where I would be without him.”
Kunze is currently working at the Wood County Board of Education office in the mornings but she hopes to one day have her own business. She is undecided on where she will attend college but wants to study business. She also has a goal of having an impact. She wants to be involved as much as she can.
“I don’t want to just be somebody who goes to an eight to four job and just does nothing in my life. I want to be able to change the world in some aspect,” said Kunze.
